Unleashing Opportunity: Kuyper College, MI
Co-hosted by Kuyper College and the Center for Public Justice (CPJ), join as we engage in a conversation regarding the growing epidemic of payday lending. While cash stores have only been legal in Michigan for 10 years, there are more payday lending locations in Kent Country than either McDonalds or Starbucks.
Additionally, with cash stores typically charging a total of 300-400+% in interest and fees for loans targeted towards lower income families, this is and will continue to be a real issue in today's economy.
Join us for an evening session with a keynote address followed by a panel discussion. Rev. Dallas Lenear will deliver the keynote address as he presents a biblical perspective on payday loans and how we, as Christians, can respond to a growing issue.
This will be followed by a panel discussion, including panelists:
- Dan Carter, Calvary on 8th
- Sue Ortiz, Inner City Christian Federation
- Katie Thompson, Center for Public Justice
- Moderator, Stephanie Summers, Center for Public Justice
7:00pm - 8:45pm
- Keynote address by Rev. Dallas Lenear
