Alaine Gherardi joined the Center in October, 2001, and serves as Associate Fellow at the Center and as Assistant Director of the Pew Civitas Program in Faith and Public Affairs, directed by Stanley Carlson-Thies.

Alaine received her B.A. in Government and Italian from the University of Notre Dame in May, 1999, and earned her Masters in International Relations and European Studies in October, 2000, from the University of Kent: London Center for International Studies.

Originally from Fort Lee, New Jersey, Alaine loves to travel, especially throughout Italy and Western and Eastern Europe. In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking (though most of her latest creations have generously been termed 'experimental'). During most autumn Saturday afternoons, you can find Alaine watching or attending the football games of her beloved Fighting Irish. In addition, Alaine enjoys teaching, music, the outdoors, and discussions on culture and politics.
