U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture

The Center for Public Justice recognized Tony P. Hall, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture in Rome, with its 2004 Leadership Award. As an elected official, Hall worked on issues of hunger and human rights. He was the author of legislation supporting food aid, child survival, basic education, primary health care, micro-enterprise, and development assistance programs in the world's poorest countries. He is a three-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Center also recognized the service work of the Congressional Hunger Center, a non-government organization dedicated to developing leaders who fight hunger and poverty around the world. The awards reception took place on May 13, 2004, in Washington, D.C.
